Privacy Policy
The short version
We collect your email address so we can send you the thing you asked for. We do not sell it, we do not share it for anyone else's advertising, and we do not buy personal data about you from anyone. The business contact details inside our digests come from public City licence filings and from firms' own websites — never from a data broker or a consumer people-search site.
1. Who is responsible
BuildDocket LLC, 2285 Spruce St, Seaford, NY 11783. For any privacy question or request, write to [email protected] and we will answer.
2. What we collect about you
- Your email address, and the trade divisions and boroughs you select. You give us these when you request a sample or subscribe.
- Subscription and billing status — your tier, whether you are on trial, and whether your last payment succeeded. Card details are handled by our payment processor and never reach our systems.
- Delivery and usage records — which digests we sent you, which leads they contained, and which leads you claimed on the call sheet. We need these to enforce the 3-subscriber cap and to avoid sending you the same lead twice.
- Ordinary server logs from our hosting provider, including IP address and request time, kept for security and debugging.
We do not run advertising trackers or third-party analytics profiling on this site.
Email measurement
Our email provider records whether a message was delivered, bounced or was marked as spam, so that we can keep our sending reputation healthy and stop mailing addresses that no longer work. If you would rather we did not measure opens on your messages, ask us and we will turn it off for your address.
3. Business contact details in the digests
The service exists to tell you which firm filed which permit or received which violation, and how to reach them. Those records are published by New York City. The contact details attached to them are collected as described in our Terms: from City licence filings (DOB, DCWP) and from the firms' own published websites.
We do not buy contact data and we do not use consumer people-search directories. These are business numbers and business addresses that a business published in order to be contacted on.
If you are a contractor or property owner who appears in our data and you want your contact details removed from what we distribute, email [email protected] from an address at that business, or tell us how to verify you, and we will remove them. We cannot remove the underlying City record — only the City can do that — but we can and will stop redistributing your contact details.
4. Why we are allowed to hold it
We process your email address to perform the contract you entered into when you subscribed. We process delivery records because we have a legitimate interest in not double-selling a lead and in honouring the exclusivity cap. We process business contact details from public records because we have a legitimate interest in providing this service and the information was published for the purpose of business contact.
5. Who else sees it
Only the suppliers we need to run the service: our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider, and our payment processor. Each is bound to use the data only to provide their service to us. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We will disclose data if the law requires it.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your account details while you are a subscriber and for twenty-four months afterwards, so that we can honour a returning customer's history and settle any billing question. Unsubscribe records we keep indefinitely, because that is the only way to guarantee we never mail you again. Server logs roll off within ninety days.
7. Your choices
- Unsubscribe — every email has a one-click link, and it takes effect immediately.
- Access, correction and deletion — email us and we will send you what we hold, fix it, or delete it.
- California residents may request access, deletion and correction, and may direct us not to sell or share personal information. We do not sell or share it, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the request costs you nothing to make and we will not treat you differently for making it.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
8. Children
This is a business tool. It is not directed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
9. Security and changes
Traffic is encrypted in transit and access to subscriber data is restricted. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you we will tell you as required by law. If we change this policy materially we will email subscribers before the change takes effect.
